Caihua Li, Dr. Seung-seob Lee, and Lin Zhong’s work on confidential memory management received a Distinguished Paper Award at the Network and Distributed System Security (NDSS) Symposium, held in San Diego on February 24-28. NDSS is one of the premier venues for Computer Security research. Their work demonstrates that operating systems can manage memory without requiring unfettered access—bringing us closer to a future where we no longer have to fully trust Apple or Google with our data, despite their control over smartphone operating systems. You can read the paper here.
This research is led by Caihua Li, a CS Ph.D. student, in collaboration with Dr. Seung-seob Lee, an associate research scientist in CS. Caihua was busy preparing his presentation and unfortunately missed the award ceremony. The photo is of him holding the certificate afterward.
Congratulations to Caihua and Seung-seob!
