Title: “The Platform or the People?”: Exploring Issues of Trust, Safety, and A.I. In Digital Gaming

Abstract:

In this talk, Dr. Gray will explore the challenges associated with protecting vulnerable populations in digital gaming. From exploring issues related to content moderation, online streaming, and the pervasive use of A.I. in gaming, platforms have struggled to keep its most vulnerable populations safe. But what does safety mean for these platforms? For gaming, it often means protecting users from cheating as opposed to protecting them from instances of hate and harassment. This talk will explore these challenges and how A.I. continues to impede progress.
