Code Haven Receives Google’s IgniteCS Funding

October 31, 2016

Code Haven, a student organization that brings Yale students to New Haven schools for weekly computer science lessons, was recently awarded a gift from Google’s IgniteCS program. IgniteCS provides resources for universities to establish mentorship programs in their local communities. In addition to providing funding for teaching materials, IgniteCS also offers mentorship and talks from Google engineers and other industry professionals.

Led by Annie Chen (YC ‘19) and Dennis Duan (YC ‘19), Code Haven is currently working with David Weinreb’s 6th grade bilingual classroom at Fair Haven School to introduce computer science fundamentals. The organization is advised by Professor Dana Angluin and Nathaniel Granor (YC ‘09), who works at Microsoft TEALS.
