Prof. Ruzica Piskac is recipient of the 2019 Ackerman Teaching and Mentoring Award

May 2, 2019

Congratulations to Professor Ruzica Piskac as the recipient of the 2019 Ackerman Teaching and Mentoring Award. This award, sponsored by SEAS alum Robert Ackerman (‘60), recognizes outstanding undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and mentoring and is based on nominations from current SEAS students and recent SEAS alums. The nominations were reviewed by a panel of undergraduate and graduate students who were selected by their departments.

A number of letters were written in support of Professor Piskac’s nomination for this award. She was lauded for her prioritization of individualized student learning through her passionate and engaging teaching style that incorporates student feedback while emphasizing thought-provoking projects that prepare students for success beyond the classroom. As a mentor, Professor Piskac’s open-door policy creates a collegial environment where she guides students to discover inspiring research projects and find their academic identities.

Professor Piskac is applauded for her great work as a teacher and mentor, and we congratulate her as this year’s Ackerman Teaching and Mentoring Award recipient.
